The questions will ask you to establish connections about themes or topics of the six presentations. You will have to provide specific details. It could include one of the following questions (written by your fellow classmates)

How does experiencing political repression fuel the writing of García Márquez in No One Writes to the Colonel and Julia Álvarez in How the García Girls Lost Their Accents?

How do the conflicts in Colombia differ from those in the Dominican Republic?

How were the characters in How the García Girls Lost Their Accents expected to conceal/hide their identities to fit into society?

  1. Three (3) short questions about The Year My Parents Went on Vacation and Undertow and the articles listed above. (10 points each, 30% grade)
  2. (1) short essay about the oral presentations. (10 points, 10% grade)
  3. One (1) essay on The Year My Parents Went on Vacation and/or Undertow. (40 points; 40 % grade)
  4. One (1) essay about Latin America. (20 points; 20 % grade)
