    CALL FOR PAPERS

    “Reel” Latin America: Framing the 21st Century:

    A conference on Latin American and US Latino Film

     

    The conference committee invites submissions in English, Portuguese or Spanish for individual papers, and/or complete panels for its forthcoming conference on Latin American and US Latino film to be held on the campus of the University of Louisville between October 4-5, 2013.

     

    We welcome papers and panels relating to the study of film and documentary, including, but by no means limited to:

     

    • The role of digital media in the current boom of Latin American Film
    • National cinemas
    • Minorities’s involvement as consumers and producers of film and television culture, and representations of women within television and film
    • The documentary genre in Latin America and US Latino Film
    • Women’s participation in, and creation of film and documentary
    • The role of the Escuela de Cine y Televisión de Cuba in the development of the New Latin American film
    • The Latin American film subject
    • Latin American film festivals
    • Film and Latin American Cultural Studies
    • Film in pedagogy
    • The role of music and the visual arts in Latin American and US Latino film
    • Latin American film production’s engagement with social media and their work as bloggers and cultural critics

    The deadline for panel proposals is July 15, 2013.

    All submitters will receive a confirmation of receipt email from the conference within 5 business days of receipt of their submissions. Accepted submitters will receive notification via email in mid-July.
