This year, "Reel" Latin American: the 23rd Latin American Film Festival have been fortunated enough to invite Argentinian film director Diego Rougier, who currently lives in Chile, to join us.

Mr Rougier will exhibit his films and documentaries, talk about the film industry in Argentina and Chile, and he will lead discussions after his film screenings. He will also deliver formal lectures that will be open to the university and local community.

Diego Rougier is a distinguished and very accomplished director of several successful projects including film and TV series. He launched his career as a film director with the full-length feature film Salt (Salt), the first Chilean Western ever to be produced. The film earned him the first place in the First Edition of the First Time Fest 2013 in New York. David Bravo, the film's photographer, also received a prize for “best cinematography”. In total, Sal has become the most awarded Chilean film of the decade, receiving more than 60 prizes in international festivals. Mr. Rougier has since directed Genesis Nirvana and Alma (Soul) which we plan on exhibiting at the film festival, in addition to Salt: The Film.

Early in his career, he earned the coveted Martin Fierro prize because of his work with Costumbres argentinas (Argentinian Ways) a TV series. After relocating to Chile, Diego Rougier has become completely immersed in several TV projects that Diego directs, writes, or produces. The list of shows includes Bienvenida realidad (Welcome Reality). Tiempo final en tiempo real (Final Time in Real Time). His work with the global group MEGA has produced well-acclaimed sitcoms such as Casado con hijos (Married with Children), La Colonia (The Colony), and the Chilean version of Modern Family.
